Board Members Biographies

Zachery Barnard


Zack grew up in Lubbock, Texas, where he attended Lubbock Christian University and received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. He played four years of baseball at the University and then went on to spend the following six years as the strength coach for the baseball team and other programs. Zack has been in the nutritional supplement industry for 20 years, and has owned and operated several gyms and facilities during that time. In addition to his coaching background, he has been a longtime competitive bodybuilder and won several natural shows including the 2004 Musclemania New York, giving him Professional status. Moving with his family to the DFW area in recent years has opened many new opportunities for Zack and brought him to his current role as the program director for Lift For Life. His extensive background in exercise, training and nutrition provides a solid professional foundation for L4L as well as solidifying the program’s growth potential.

Justin Bohannon


Justin Bohannon is a 10 year US Army Veteran, an Online Personal Trainer and Executive Director/Founder of the Veteran Service Non-Profit Organization, Make A Vet Sweat. Founded in 2015, Make A Vet Sweat funds gym memberships for veterans and their spouses for 90 days to help them overcome PTSD and create a healthy lifestyle. While in the Army, Justin served 6 years as an Airborne Infantry Squad Leader and then moved to Arizona as an Army Recruiter. While Recruiting, Justin managed the Future Soldiers Program ensuring they met the physical standards before shipping to bootcamp (BCT.) Since being out of the Army, Justin has earned his IFBB Elite Pro Card in the Classic Physique Division.

Justin owns and manages “Justin Boflex Fitness” which is an online competition prep service and is a highly sought-after guest group instructor at various fitness clubs in and around the Austin, TX area.  

Kenneth A. Zimmern


Mr. Zimmern is an attorney admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court as well as numerous other state and federal courts.  He specializes in complex commercial litigation.  Mr. Zimmern has over twenty-five years experience presenting cases to a jury, a judge or a court of appeals.  Mr. Zimmern’s expertise also includes compliance with state and federal agencies monitoring money services businesses.  Mr. Zimmern graduated from Trinity University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Arts degree Clinical Psychology.  He earned his Juris Doctorate from Baylor University School of Law.  He was a member of the Baylor Law Review and is published in that journal.  Mr. Zimmern has successfully argued numerous cases before the Texas Supreme Court, federal courts, and appellate courts of Texas.  Mr. Zimmern also serves on the board of directors for a transportation museum in Galveston, Texas.  A fitness enthusiast himself, Mr. Zimmern is devoted to improving the lives of U.S. veterans, and young people, through athletics and fitness.

Andrew Dean McMichael


A Houston native and graduate in Business Finance from The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. McMichael provides consulting services to a broad spectrum of business owners and entrepreneurs.  An avid fitness enthusiast and weightlifter himself, Mr. McMichael started his first health club at the age of 21 in Houston, Texas and later moved into the design, development and construction of high-end single family, multi-family and commercial retail and government-use buildings.  Mr. McMichael manages the philanthropic Thomas C. and Evelyn B. McMichael Foundation. 

Having lost several close friends to suicide throughout the years, as well as having prevented a number of suicides through personal counseling intervention, Mr. McMichael developed the belief that supervised weight training and proper nutrition was the most effective long term means of combating this growing epidemic.  To put his belief into action, Mr. McMichael started the Texas based charity “Lift for Life”, which aims to reduce the incidence of suicide in youth and veterans through guided exercise and nutritional training, and is actively involved in its current development and growth.
